Shameless Commercial Break:

My novel KNOCKING OVER THE FISHBOWL is a semi-finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. FISHBOWL has been making the rejection rounds since 2004 and it's cool to think it might be headed somewhere, eventually. You can download an excerpt for free:

Manuscript review by Publishers Weekly, an independent organization:

The population of oddballs in Hungry Hollow is increased by one with the arrival of Wilson Scrags. The only difference is that Scrags recently escaped from a mental institution-as did his invisible friend, Bob. But otherwise, he fits right in with the pill-popping Vincent Akimbo; and Agatha Chamberlain, who murmurs prayers over the graves of squirrels she poisons; the endlessly talkative Dick Franklin; and Jimbo, teenaged computer whiz and master forger. As the narrative churns, Agatha is arrested for assaulting a police officer, Vincent flees hospitalization while Wilson plots a return to Vietnam to resolve his past (and perhaps his Bob issues, too). All of this leads to an unexpected conclusion that shows life's accidents can sometimes count for far more than even the most rigorous planning.
