Fire, Fire, Fire

Pretty much half of Idaho is on fire right now. Too dry for too long, and now around 800,000 acres of land are burning (I think that's what the TV news lady said, though it seems hard to believe). Most of the fires are north and east of Boise. I found this link where you can see an active fire map for the West. A lot of the fires are caused by dry lightning and Lordy do they cause trouble up in here. Currently a brown haze hangs over Boise and the temperature is down, thanks to the haze blanket. Could use some MN lakes out here, eh?

This is nothing. A few years ago most of the foot hills were on fire. It looked and felt like hell.

Oh, and these 100+ temperature days did not used to be the norm. Usually we get about a week or two of that during the summer. Then it's back into the 90's.

Nice thing is, winters here are mild, compared to other Western towns. Like Denver.
