Blogagaard Installs New Computer for Friend

Well, I went to Best Buy about ten days ago, withstood their devious sales staff, and today I finished the project of installing a new computer for my ex co-worker Marie. We got her a sleek, slim HP with a 17 inch flat screen monitor and printer and, for the first time, she now has high speed internet. And when I say high speed, I mean melt your face off fast internet. Her new CPU has four or five different frontal ports I don't recognize, surely some super chips or something that are way better than ancient flash drives.

I also got my first look at Windows Vista. Meet the new boss, pretty much same as the old boss except a few minor flashy dashy type things. Has anyone heard how Vista's preforming so far? Any major glitches? No longer can you get Microsoft Office with a $1,000 computer package, now that's an extra $150-$200, the damn bitches. Also, Geek Squad is officially soulless and toils as minions for best Buy, with their official Geek Squad help desk in-store. As you may guess, I'm not a big fan of best buy. Even while browsing through their much reduced CD selection I was accosted by a salesperson! Is no isle safe from uncomfortable interaction? Hopefully it'll be another decade or two before I find it necessary to return...

Oh Marie! She is great. Does she have a myspace?

I loathe Best Buy. I actually was in a marketing focus group for them once where I told them all about how much I loathe them and why. To their credit, they were very interested in my loathing.

I have no clue if my input inspired change though as I refuse to go in there.

Oh bloggie, I am so proud of you right now.

PS. Windows Vista is a bit buggy, but on her brand new spanking computer she should be ok (upgrading is more of a problem).

Just make sure the automatic updating thingie is on...

Blog Squad!

He'll set up your computer, have a cup of tea, and write a book chapter on your computer before he leaves!

Alas, Marie is myspace-less. I don't think she's ready to go that slam dunk on the Net.

Mike, I'm proud of you, too. For trying to put in a patio.

Blog Squad has a nice ring to it, Rand...

I ordered my new computer at hp.com, choose exactly what I wanted on the machine, didn't have to interact with anyone but Kelly as I asked him a bunch of questions, and then it was delivered a week later. Very pretty.

You can un-vista some asects of vista, which makes it better.

Aspects, I meant.

Perhaps, Best Buy purposely makes interactions uncomfortable to entice people to buy more gadgets to help avoid face to face interactions.
I'm not a big Best Buy fan either.
