You tease. So many questions loom....permanently? Why Idaho? A potato thing? Do you need any help?

I would like to second Missy's questions and add Is it the witness protection program and if so, you just blew your cover?

A little more narrative would be welcome.

But good for you! I've had moments where I thought, "Why didn't I pick up and go to xxx?" but when I could I didn't. So do. We'll miss you!

Well, I looked at a map of the US and just sort of chose it based on a dozen factors. My temp job will be over by June and it'll be the perfect time to move and I've wanted to live out West for a long time and Boise is located within range of a lot of cool places, is a cool place itself (Ranked in the top ten by Forbes for quality of life, whatever that means), and you can get temp jobs anywhere, right? Also, Sarah is coming with me and we're going to bring her two crazy cats along for the ride and we're going to rent a house for cheap. They'll become mountain cats!

We will miss our friends, of course, but we'll always have the intra-web

Taken from Wikipedia:

Boise has grown considerably in recent years and is now comparable in size to other midsize cities at the center of their own metropolitan areas in the United States such as Grand Rapids, Des Moines and Providence.[2]

It is also home to a large contingent of Mormons, so keep your no soliciting sign up.

WHAT?! I'm moving to Boise?
;)

If the cats aren't crazy now, they will be after 2 days of riding in the car.

I have a passion for potatoes. I got 2nd place at the state fair for my sensational spuds. Bessie Bluebottom unfairly usurped my deserved first place with her wimpy wrinkle friers. Minnesota's judges are fishy. I gotta try a new state.

Be an adjunct instructor at Boise State!

Not enough $$ to pay all the bills but a chance to teach English for pay (and extra dough) at nights or on weekends.

ah, what is a vita? like a resume?

David Oppegaard said...

an academic resume!

Rand said...

Yes, "curriculum vitae," your CV, as it is commonly called. It's Latin for "course of life." They are typically longer than a resume (which is French for "summary.")

You would include publications, readings, conferences, your academic career.

Not baseball games or kick-ass drinking contests.

I could send you some example CVs if you wish, although I bet you have already found some!
